Planned Parenthood Action Fund Endorses Three Floridians for Congress
For Immediate Release: May 11, 2012
The Planned Parenthood Action Fund announces its endorsement of Patrick Murphy (FL-18), Lois Frankel (FL-22), and Keith Fitzgerald (FL-16). The Planned Parenthood Action Fund is the advocacy and political arm of Planned Parenthood Federation of America.
“We are proud to endorse Patrick Murphy, Lois Frankel, and Keith Fitzgerald in their races for Congress today,” said Cecile Richards, president of the Planned Parenthood Action Fund. “The race to the bottom on women’s health issues over the last few months has shown, yet again, how crucial it is to send advocates for women’s health to the U.S. House of Representatives. Patrick, Lois and Keith are exceptional candidates who will fight to protect and promote women’s health. And that’s exactly who Floridians, and all Americans, need representing them in Washington.”
“The women of South Florida deserve better than Congressman Allen West; with women’s health under attack, it’s time to elect a representative who will stand with women,” said Judith Selzer, Florida Alliance of Planned Parenthood Affiliates. “We are very proud that the Action Fund has endorsed Patrick Murphy to represent Florida’s 18th Congressional District.”
“Lois Frankel is a lifetime supporter of women’s reproductive rights,” said Selzer. “While her opponent, Adam Hasner, is ready to turn back the clock on women’s health, Lois will stand strong for women’s health in the 22nd Congressional District. We’re very proud the Action Fund has endorsed her.”
“Keith Fitzgerald is an outstanding candidate and champion for women’s health. We are excited that the Action Fund has endorsed him for Florida’s 16th Congressional District,” said Wendy Grassi, Florida Alliance of Planned Parenthood Affiliates. “Congressman Vern Buchanan has proved time and time again that when it comes to women’s health care needs, he’s completely out of touch.”
