WASHINGTON, DC -- Planned Parenthood Action Fund released the following statement on George Pataki’s presidential announcement today.

Statement from Cecile Richards, President, Planned Parenthood Action Fund:

“Surely in a field of as many as 18 Republican contenders for the presidential nomination, there is room for a candidate who supports women's health and rights, as the majority of Republicans do. We are eager to learn Governor Pataki’s positions on issues that matter to women.

“Women’s health will be an important topic and point of contrast in this election. We need to keep moving forward on issues that matter deeply to women, including equal pay, access to preventive health care, affordable birth control, and access to safe and legal abortion. We look forward to a robust conversation about the importance of women having access to the full range reproductive health care, no matter where they live or how much money they earn."
