"Reproductive Health Care and Rights are Core Progressive Values That Should Unite Us All"

Washington, DC --- Last night on the Rachel Maddow show, Bernie Sanders labeled Planned Parenthood as part of 'establishment,' saying his campaign would take them on --- despite Sanders having previously vocalized strong support for the non-profit organization.

Statement from Dawn Laguens, Executive Vice President of Planned Parenthood Action Fund:

“I’m disappointed in Senator Sanders’ remarks last night. This country sees attacks against reproductive health, reproductive rights, and marriage equality every day --- especially from every single GOP candidate for President. It's regrettable and surprising to hear Senator Sanders describe the very groups that fight on behalf of millions of often marginalized Americans --- people who still have to fight for their most basic rights --- as representing the ‘establishment.’  Reproductive health care and rights, and the full equality of LGBTQ people, are core progressive values that should unite us all."

Just last week the Guttmacher institute released a report that shows more than a quarter of abortion restrictions since Roe V. Wade have passed in the last five years. Currently every single Republican running for President has pledged to eliminate access to abortion as well as the ability to access care at Planned Parenthood.
