Planned Parenthood Action Fund released the following statement in support of Syrian refugees
For Immediate Release: Sept. 22, 2016
Statement from Dawn Laguens, Executive Vice President, Planned Parenthood Action Fund:
“At Planned Parenthood Action Fund, we believe everyone deserves compassionate care, and to be safe and healthy — no matter what.
“It is appalling to see those associated with a presidential campaign engage in fear-mongering against Syrian refugees. Refugees have left everything behind, and are forced to negotiate their safety in unfamiliar countries and languages. We should not be turning out back on people, many of whom are the most vulnerable, including those with disabilities, women and children, fleeing in terror for their lives — just when they need our help the most.
“Planned Parenthood health centers have been proud to be a place of refuge and compassion for those who may otherwise have nowhere else to turn for health care. The United States was founded on those very same values, which is why it is shameful to see those values disavowed by a presidential campaign. Donald Trump has made it clear that his America would exclude vital members of our community, including refugees and immigrants, or anyone is not a part of the small sliver of America that he represents.”
