Planned Parenthood Action Fund Statement on Saturday’s Primary Results
For Immediate Release: March 11, 2016
Washington, DC – Planned Parenthood Action Fund released the following statement regarding Saturday’s presidential primary and caucus results in Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine and Nebraska:
Statement from Dawn Laguens, Executive Vice President of Planned Parenthood Action Fund:
“No matter who the Republican nominee is, the results for women will be the same: terrible. Donald Trump, Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, and John Kasich have repeatedly waged war on women and access to basic health care in this country. Ted Cruz and Donald Trump have both encouraged inflammatory and violent rhetoric: Cruz against women’s health care providers and Trump against communities of color. All four of the remaining Republican candidates have taken stances far outside the mainstream: pledging to ban access to abortion, block over a million people from care at Planned Parenthood health centers, and slash insurance coverage that currently allows more than 55 million women to receive no-copay birth control.
“The American people, time and time again, have rejected this agenda. They have made clear they want women to have control over their own health decisions. And they want to move forward on these issues, not backwards. That is why we know Hillary Clinton is the champion we need in the White House. She’s worked her entire career to protect and expand reproductive health and rights for all Americans –– and as president, she will never back down from a fight.
14 national polls since last summer have shown strong support for Planned Parenthood. Polling inmajor swing states also shows strong support for Planned Parenthood.
