Washington, DC — The Planned Parenthood Action Fund announced its endorsement of John Callahan, mayor of Bethlehem, PA, in Pennsylvania’s 15th Congressional District race. The Planned Parenthood Action Fund is the advocacy and political arm of Planned Parenthood Federation of America.

"John Callahan has been a strong advocate of expanding health care access for women and families during his tenure as mayor of Bethlehem," said Cecile Richards, president of the Planned Parenthood Action Fund. "At a time when women’s access to basic health care is under attack, Americans need representatives like Callahan to fight for women and women’s health."

As mayor, John Callahan invested in expanded health care access and preventive health care services. Without increasing taxes or running up a budget deficit, Callahan supported free and low-cost health clinics and made health care available to low-income residents of Bethlehem. In Congress, John Callahan will continue to work to improve access to quality health care for women, support and protect a woman's right to choose, and invest in prevention programs, including family planning services and breast cancer screenings.

"On behalf of more than 185,000 pro-choice supporters in the Commonwealth, we are thrilled to support John Callahan for U. S. Congress," said Sari Stevens, executive director of the Planned Parenthood Pennsylvania Advocates. "John Callahan has been a champion of women’s health and will work hard to protect the crucial services that Pennsylvanian women and families need."

The election will be held on November 2.
