The monthly series will feature college students and young professionals discussing the state of reproductive rights and ways to get involved in their community and at the ballot box.

WASHINGTON — On Wednesday, August 17, Planned Parenthood Action Fund will launch its new four-part monthly speaker series, Empower Party, in partnership with The Collective, the women-focused practice of Wasserman. The first session in this series will focus on the ways that young people have been affected by the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade. Attendees will learn how to get involved with the Planned Parenthood Generation Action network on their campus, connect with the Planned Parenthood Corporate Engagement network, and take steps alongside organizations like Planned Parenthood Action Fund to protect reproductive rights at the ballot box this fall.

Speakers will include the first Gen Z Sports Illustrated model GiGi Robinson, superstar gymnast, advocate, and influencer Katelyn Ohashi, Planned Parenthood Action Fund Youth Campaigns Specialist Kayla Lawson, Planned Parenthood Action Fund Sexual Education Director of Education Strategy Kaitlyn Marchesano, and Headcount Voter Engagement Manager Tom Bergan.

Statement from Kelley Robinson, executive director, Planned Parenthood Action Fund:

We are incredibly excited for this innovative collaboration with The Collective to educate and empower young people and professionals across the country, encouraging them to take control of their health and futures. In this moment of crisis for abortion rights, it’s critical that young people know what’s at stake this election cycle and are prepared to take action to protect their reproductive freedom.”

Statement from Thayer Lavielle, EVP, The Collective at Wasserman:

“The Collective is proud to partner with Planned Parenthood Action Fund to help inform, inspire and support young women across campuses. We believe that women are the only ones in charge of their bodies, so helping to educate women on sexual and reproductive health is an important element of that conversation.”

Each session of Empower Party will be tailored to deliver information to mobilize specific demographic groups. Future sessions include themes around building power with communities of color, LGBTQ+ communities, get out the vote efforts, and more. Each series will feature a conversation between notable guests, a Planned Parenthood Action Fund youth organizing representative and expert, and a voting-related expert.

The first session will then feature breakout rooms where attendees can learn more about voting from experts and ask questions about their sexual health. Following the panel and breakout rooms, participants will be able to ask questions and discuss key topics, as well as learn how to become an advocate and activist in support of reproductive rights.
