The Planned Parenthood Action Fund’s partnership with the VANS WARPED TOUR® 2012, to educate and engage the public on reproductive health issues, is wrapping up this week.

Throughout the summer, at VANS WARPED TOUR® 2012 concerts in cities across the country, local staff and volunteers have been on site to share information about Planned Parenthood’s health services, such as life-saving cancer screenings, birth control, STD testing and treatment, and about sexual health education.  Local Planned Parenthood advocacy staff have also mobilized concert audiences around the Action Fund’s Women Are Watching campaign designed to educate, engage, and activate supporters across the country on the 2012 elections. Concertgoers who sign the Women Are Watching pledge by texting “Watching” to 69866 will be able to receive updates and stay involved with the Planned Parenthood Action Fund.

Members of one of the headline bands, Senses Fail, have visited booths done post-set signings as the tour travels across the country.  The band wants to encourage their fans to take advantage of Planned Parenthood’s quality, affordable services, and to sign the Action Fund’s Women Are Watching pledge.

Senses Fail singer Buddy Nielsen said, “I support Planned Parenthood because it's important that quality, affordable sexual health care and education are available to everyone. I’m proud to stand with the Planned Parenthood Action Fund to get the word out about that women's health and reproductive health are important issues in this election. There is a big difference between the candidates when it comes to women's health, and I hope people will educate themselves about the importance of this election, get involved, and vote.”

“We are honored to partner with the VANS WARPED TOUR® 2012 to provide young people nationwide with the information they need to stay safe and healthy,” said Planned Parenthood Action Fund President Cecile Richards.  “And we are equally determined to encourage them to be active in the 2012 election and to vote.”

The tour ends Sunday in Portland, OR. Fans’ last chance to visit Senses Fail with Planned Parenthood Action Fund staff and volunteers is this Saturday, August 4, in Auburn, WA.

The Planned Parenthood Action Fund’s partnership with the VANS WARPED TOUR® 2012 has been part of a broader summer concert outreach program that includes Coldplay, Ani DiFranco, the Indigo Girls, and the IDentity Festival.
