The Planned Parenthood Action Fund and Family Planning Advocates of New York congratulate Congresswoman Kirsten Gillibrand on being named New York's next U.S. senator.

“With Congresswoman Gillibrand as the next U.S. Senator from New York, we have another strong advocate for women’s health and women’s rights. We stand ready to work with her on commonsense policies that promote and protect women’s health, help prevent unintended and teen pregnancies, and lead to healthy outcomes for women,” said Cecile Richards, president of the Planned Parenthood Action Fund.

“We congratulate Congresswoman Gillibrand and look forward to working with Senator Gillibrand on women’s health issues.” said M. Tracey Brooks, president and CEO of Family Planning Advocates of New York. “She is a pro-choice and pro-women’s health champion who will be a strong voice for New York, especially working to expand access to affordable birth control and preventing unintended pregnancy.”

Congresswoman Kirsten Gillibrand has received a 100 percent rating from the Planned Parenthood Action Fund. As a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, Congresswoman Gillibrand has a strong voting record when it comes to women's health.

“Congresswoman Kirsten Gillibrand follows in the footsteps of another pro-choice and pro-women’s health champion, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton,” said Cecile Richards, president of the Planned Parenthood Action Fund. “We are confident she will pick up where Secretary Clinton left off in advocating for women’s health.”
