Planned Parenthood Urges Progress on Health Care Reform in the Wake of Tuesday's Massachusetts Election Results
For Immediate Release: May 11, 2012
Statement from Planned Parenthood Action Fund President
Cecile Richards:
“The Planned Parenthood Action Fund is deeply disappointed by tonight’s results in the election to fill the seat of the late Senator Edward Kennedy (D-MA), whose passion for ensuring access to health care, including reproductive health care, was unmatched.
“While we respect the choice of the people of Massachusetts, the fight for affordable, quality health care coverage for all, including women’s reproductive health, is bigger than any one election.
“We must rededicate our commitment to Senator Kennedy’s goal. The most important thing we must all focus on now is moving a health care bill forward, the result of months of negotiations and progress toward ensuring affordable, quality health care for all. We look forward to working with Senator–elect Scott Brown and other members of the Senate as we continue this important work.”
