Washington, D.C. – Today, Planned Parenthood Votes and Planned Parenthood Action Fund released digital ads as part of their new ad campaign with EMILY’s List’s WOMEN VOTE!. These ads highlight Pat Toomey’s efforts to block thousands of Pennsylvanians from birth control and cancer screenings at Planned Parenthood health centers—even voting to shut down the government to do so. The ad campaign kicked off yesterday with EMILY’s List TV ad, “Alive,” that features Mary Lou Magyarits, a Montgomery County resident and breast cancer survivor, discussing how Pat Toomey’s extreme agenda would have serious, harmful consequences on Pennsylvania women. The ad campaign continues today with Planned Parenthood Votes and Planned Parenthood Action Fund running multiple digital ads, including “Remember,” where Linsey Will, Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner, talks about how Pat Toomey is blocking women from accessing care at Planned Parenthood.

Thousands of women across Pennsylvania depend on Planned Parenthood health centers for basic health care services and cancer screenings, and Pat Toomey repeatedly put that in jeopardy with multiple votes to defund the organization.

“At every turn, Pat Toomey has blocked Pennsylvania women access to basic health care and kept Pennsylvania women from making their own decisions about their reproductive health,” said EMILY’s List Executive Director Jessica O’Connell. “Pat Toomey opted to shut down the government to defund Planned Parenthood, which only shows just how far he's willing to go to drive his dangerous, out of touch agenda. Pennsylvania women can't afford to have a Senator who is so reckless with their health care and the country's economy, and we're committed to send Pat Toomey packing in November."

“Pat Toomey is like a termite –– you don’t realize that he’s busy eroding all your rights until your entire house falls down,” added Planned Parenthood Votes Executive Director, Deirdre Schifeling. “Pat Toomey has systematically worked to block women from accessing birth control and cancer screenings at Planned Parenthood health centers. He even tried to shut down the entire federal government to do so. Pennsylvanians want control over their own, personal health care decisions. Pat Toomey is trying to take that away. We’re not going to stand for another term of Toomey.”

The ad campaign consists of an investment of over $1.1 million by WOMEN VOTE! to communicate with voters in the Philadelphia media market on broadcast and cable as well as a $266,000 investment by Planned Parenthood Votes and Planned Parenthood Action Fund for digital ads that will run in Philadelphia. WOMEN VOTE!’s “Alive” will begin airing on June 23rd, 2016 and will run through July 13, 2016.

Linsey Will, Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner:

I know that women depend on Planned Parenthood

But Senator Pat Toomey voted to defund Planned Parenthood.

He's willing to shutdown the federal government and block access to birth control.

I just think he's wrong for women in Pennsylvania.

Mary Lou Magyarits, Cancer Survivor, Montgomery County:

“I survived breast cancer.

If the doctors hadn’t caught it early I might not be sitting here.

So, I’m outraged that Pat Toomey voted to defund Planned Parenthood…

…which thousands of Pennsylvania women depend on for cancer screenings.

Pat Toomey was even willing to shut down the federal government to eliminate funding for Planned Parenthood.

Shut down the government over Planned Parenthood?

I think we ought to shut down Pat Toomey.
