Washington, DC -- Today, Planned Parenthood’s Clergy Advocacy Board released the following statement on the shooting at Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, SC.

Statement from Planned Parenthood’s Clergy Advocacy Board:

“As faith leaders committed to the core values of love, justice and compassion, our hearts break at the news of the tragic Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church shooting in Charleston, S.C.  We all are in prayer for the many whose lives have been damaged by this tragedy and other acts of hate. As pastors and worship service leaders ourselves, we recognize our houses of worship as sanctuaries for many seeking comfort, spiritual uplift and peace. These places of worship should be sacred spaces, free from violence and hate, and we commit ourselves anew to working towards a world that is loving and peaceful.”
