Senator Poised to Lead Efforts Against Harmful Judicial Nominations

Sacramento, CA — Today, Planned Parenthood Action Fund congratulated U.S. Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) on her resounding reelection to the Senate.

Statement from Dawn Laguens, Executive Vice President, Planned Parenthood Action Fund:

We are thrilled California voters sent Sen. Dianne Feinstein back to the U.S. Senate. She is a powerful champion for reproductive health and rights – including safe, legal abortion – with a proven record of standing up to unjust attacks, as she did during Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination to the Supreme Court earlier this year. At a time when harmful judges are being confirmed by the Senate at a record pace, we need Sen. Feinstein to ensure our courts are filled with judges who will protect and uphold access to health care. The Golden State and our country need a champion in the Senate who will continue to fight against attacks that would roll back access to essential health care.

As California’s first woman senator, Senator Feinstein’s career has been defined by fighting for women’s health and reproductive rights, and advocating for LGBTQ communities. She has a long-standing record of being a leader in protecting access to affordable health care and fighting against all attacks that threaten that care. With Kavanaugh’s nomination to the Supreme Court and Senate Republican leadership rushing through conservative additional judicial nominees for federal courts, our constitutional rights — including access to abortion — are truly at risk. Senator Feinstein is a champion for women’s health, and will continue to stand up for access to the full range of reproductive health care, including affordable birth control and safe, legal abortion.
