“We applaud the Obama campaign and the members of the Democratic Platform Committee for drafting a strong Democratic platform on women’s health. The platform is unwavering in protecting a woman’s right to choose. It is also a broad victory for women, recognizing that women’s health care is not limited to a single issue. This platform presents a forward-looking focus on reproductive health care and commonsense solutions to prevent unintended pregnancies. Planned Parenthood has partnered with Sen. Casey on pro-family planning and pro-prevention measures in Congress, including the Prevention Through Affordable Access Act. While Sen. Casey’s position on a woman’s right to choose is at odds with the Democratic Party platform, the Democratic Party’s strength is its diversity of voices.”
