The GOP’s Hate Debate
For Immediate Release: March 11, 2016
Washington, DC – In tonight’s GOP debate, there was no mention of women’s health or access to basic health care — despite Florida’s legislature yesterday having voted to block preventive health care for thousands and impose Texas-style restrictions on abortion providers. Instead, we saw candidates build upon hateful rhetoric and more backward policies for our country.
Statement from Dawn Laguens, Executive Vice President of the Planned Parenthood Action Fund:
“When an African-American man is punched, without provocation, at a political rally, a presidential candidate should be able to condemn it. Instead we saw cowardice on stage tonight.
“Every single Republican candidate has refused to take responsibility for the real harm their words and policies cause. They stump on decimating women’s access to health care across the country and hateful rhetoric against immigrant and Muslim communities. America deserves better than this.”
