Pittsburgh, PA –– Today, Planned Parenthood Votes volunteers confronted Senator Pat Toomey about his horrific record on restricting women’s access to health care at Planned Parenthood health centers. Planned Parenthood Votes was joined in Pittsburgh by NextGen volunteers.

Planned Parenthood Votes volunteers handed out “Wish You Were Here” postcards that were a play on Trump writing Toomey a postcard about missing him at the RNC in Cleveland (see below).

Quote from Meghan Eirkson, Director of Policy for Planned Parenthood PA Advocates:

“Don’t be fooled –– Donald Trump is campaigning on banning abortion and blocking access to care at Planned Parenthood health centers. Pat Toomey is legislating that agenda in the Senate. Just because Toomey isn’t in Cleveland does not change the fact that he shares the same dangerous agenda as Trump. Toomey has voted seven times to block access to Planned Parenthood health centers. We can’t afford another 6 years of Toomey.”

Even though Pat Toomey supports Donald Trump for President, he ducked out of the RNC this week. Not showing up at the RNC doesn’t change the fact that Toomey and Trump share the same positions on reproductive health care. Planned Parenthood Votes was on hand to ensure that voters know that both Toomey and Trump want to ban abortion, block patients from care at Planned Parenthood health centers, and jail doctors that provide abortion services.

Planned Parenthood health centers provide essential reproductive health care to 90,000 people every year in Pennsylvania, and millions of people every year across the country. 69 percent of Pennsylvanians want Planned Parenthood to be able to continue providing these necessary services, as do a majority of Americans.
