Reproductive rights activists' pressure made Senator Dean Heller commit to protect Planned Parenthood. Tell him to oppose any efforts to take away care.
There’s nothing more aggravating in politics than people who don’t keep their word.
At a Monday morning town hall in Reno, Nev., Senator Dean Heller (R) told a room with 600 constituents that he would “protect Planned Parenthood.” Just one day later, through a written statement from his office, Heller tried to take that commitment back — hiding behind a spokesperson to abandon his promise to the majority of Nevadans, who are opposed to blocking patients from getting care at Planned Parenthood health centers.
We refuse to accept that, and so should Nevadans. The constituents of Nevada need a senator who sticks to his word. If you live in Nevada, call Senator Heller’s office now to tell him you’re watching — and that you will hold him to his commitment to protect Planned Parenthood.
For months, we’ve marched, rallied, called, Pinked Out, and showed up together to ask anti-abortion lawmakers like Senator Heller why they would vote to block access to care at Planned Parenthood. Since Inauguration Day, you’ve driven over 10,000 calls into Senator Heller's office alone! That pressure got to him, and he understood what Nevadans want and expect from their senator.
We know a majority of Nevadans opposes blocking patients from getting care at Planned Parenthood. Senator Heller heard that majority loud and clear — so now, it’s time to tell him that a majority heard his commitment on Monday, and we’re going to hold him to it.
