Endorsements will provide key support to House majority

WASHINGTON  Today, the Planned Parenthood Action Fund (Action Fund) announced endorsements in critical races for the U.S. House of Representatives, including Sydney Kamlager (CA-37), Jay Chen (CA-45), Yadira Caraveo (CO-08), Christina Bohannan (IA-01), Liz Mathis (IA-02), Nikki Budzinski (IL-13), Erica Smith (NC-01), Val Hoyle (OR-04), and Andrea Salinas (OR-06).

From former Planned Parenthood interns to state senators, many of these candidates have been fighting for sexual and reproductive health and rights across the country for years — some in states hostile to abortion rights. Expanding access to comprehensive sex education, health care coverage for undocumented people, and fighting back against some of the cruelest anti-abortion restrictions are just some of the many ways they have stood up for patients and supported access to care.

These candidates join other Action Fund-endorsed sexual and reproductive health champions, including Jessica Cisneros (TX-28), Cheri Beasley (NC), and dozens of House and Senate incumbents. With so much on the line in 2022 and states increasing their efforts to restrict or ban access to essential care, it is critical that leaders who will protect access to sexual and reproductive health care, including abortion, are elected this November.

Statement from Alexis McGill Johnson, president, Planned Parenthood Action Fund:

“Across the country, from state legislatures to the courts, sexual and reproductive health care is under attack. This year, abortion is on the ballot and it is more important than ever to elect champions to Congress who will take on the fight ahead. Planned Parenthood Action Fund is excited to endorse these nine exceptional candidates who are committed to protecting abortion access and championing other sexual and reproductive heath priorities. Many of these candidates have been leaders in their state legislatures, fighting to protect reproductive rights in states like Iowa and North Carolina or bolster access in states like Colorado, Oregon, California and Illinois.”
