How Planned Parenthood Votes is Going to Paint the House Pink

November is coming.

Not in Her Shoe's--It's Time to Have an Authentic Conversation About Abortion

With the 40th anniversary of Roe v. Wade next week, we’re reminded that women’s health and rights have come a long way in the last 40 years. It’s been 40 years since the Supreme Court ruled that a woman has a right to make her own personal medical decisions, and 40 years of ensuring a woman’s right to a safe and legal abortion. But as women’s rights have expanded, the language we’ve used to discuss the subject has narrowed to simply “pro-choice” and “pro-life.” When it really comes down to it, labels box people in—they fail to reflect the complexity of the conversation about abortion, or the way Americans think and talk about it today. That’s why Planned Parenthood Federation of America released a new video, “Not in her Shoes,” as part of the effort to expand the discussion about abortion beyond labels.

40th Anniversary of Roe v. Wade: It’s Here for Good

This year marks the 40th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, when the Supreme Court ruled a woman had a right to make her own personal medical decisions, without interference from politicians. 40 years later Americans are still standing by this decision. A new NBC/Wall Street Journal poll shows 7 in 10 Americans believe Roe v. Wade should remain the law of the land, and a woman should have a right to a safe and legal abortion.

Daily Reminder: New Mexico Abortion Bill Could Criminalize Providers

The first version of the New Mexico abortion bill could have jailed the rape survivor. The redrafted version could jail the health provider. Either way, the woman loses her right to make her own medical decisions without interference from politicians. New Mexico Rep. Cathrynn Brown's new bill is no better than the old one.

A Texas-Sized Standoff that is Just Beginning…

What happened in Texas over the last couple of weeks was a sight to behold. From the moment Wendy Davis took to the floor to filibuster SB 5 on June 26—an extreme and dangerous bill that could severely restrict access to safe and legal abortion in the state, we knew something special was happening.

On the Road: Stand with Texas Women Bus Stops in Austin and Houston

Rick Perry and his allies have lit a fuse in Texas. They've slashed funding for women's health and cut 130,000 women off from their only source of care. Now, they're pushing their dangerous agenda to a new extreme — threatening to shut down dozens of health centers, denying even more women access to basic care and ending access to safe and legal abortion in most of the state.

Gynotician of the Week: Ohio Governor John Kasich

Anti-women’s health politicians in states like Texas, North Carolina, and Wisconsin continue to try to chip away at women’s health care, but Ohio Governor John Kasich outshone them all this week by signing a budget that included a number of provisions designed to restrict women’s health and rights. With this in mind, we’re bestowing the undignified Gynotician of the week “award” on Governor John Kasich.
