This Week’s Urgent Action: Defend the Dreamers!

With Congress on recess from February 17 - 25, now’s our best chance to hold their feet to the fire to protect Dreamers.

Celebrating “Thanks, Birth Control” Day!

Nearly all sexually active women—99%—have used birth control at some point in their lives. It’s basic preventive care, and it's benefited generations of women who have been able to plan their families and accomplish their goals. That’s why today, we’re celebrating The National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy’s first annual “Thanks, Birth Control” Day!

After Losing the Election with the Greatest Gender Gap, Romney Campaigns with Cuccinelli

If last November’s election taught us anything, it’s that women’s health is a good investment. Mitt Romney lost the presidential election (and Virginia) with the greatest gender gap in Gallup’s history. And now guess where he is: headlining a fundraiser, days after a new poll shows Democratic candidate Terry McAuliffe leading Virginia’s Republican gubernatorial candidate Ken Cuccinelli by a 24-point margin among women.

It’s Not Just the Rhetoric, But the Policies that Insult Women

Missouri State Rep. Wieland Needs to Reconsider His Priorities

Missouri State Representative Paul Wieland (R-Imperial) recently filed a federal lawsuit suit asking the court to declare the mandate for contraception coverage in Obamacare unconstitutional. More specifically, he’s looking for a personal exemption for his family (the fact that Wieland is a man, who would probably find little use for birth control, is apparently beside the point).

Senator Ted Cruz’s Misinformation Tour Starts in 11 Days…Don’t Let Him Have the Last Word

Republican lawmakers have relentlessly tried to repeal Obamacare — despite the fact that the health care law has already helped millions of women and families get the care they need, when they need it. Opponents of the law don’t care that you can no longer be denied insurance coverage because of a pre-existing condition, that women can’t be charged higher premiums simply because of their gender, and that you can now access birth control with no co-pay — they outright oppose the birth control benefit. Their intractable opposition has led them to vote to repeal the law 40 times (yes you read that right).

Obamacare IS Working

It’s been three years since Obamacare, aka the Affordable Care Act, aka the health care law, was signed into law, and already millions of women, families, and young people are benefiting from it. And yet, the fight seems to be getting all the attention.
