Missouri’s Ob-Gyns Oppose Eight Week Ban on Abortion

May 17, 2019 • Planned Parenthood Advocates in Missouri

The Missouri Section of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists strongly opposes HB 126, a medically unjustified and dangerous bill. It represents unnecessary political interference in the patient-provider relationship, granting politicians final decision-making power over individual health care decisions specific to pregnancy with no acknowledgement of its complicated and unpredictable nature.

The Missouri Legislature ends its 2019 session today after passing one of the nation’s most extreme abortion bans. Statement from M'Evie Mead and Dr. Leana Wen in response to Gov. Parson

May 15, 2019 • Planned Parenthood Advocates in Missouri

“The state of health care in Missouri is abysmal. Gov. Parson is willfully aiding in the systematic downturn of health outcomes across our state, and banning safe, legal abortion is just the latest effort. Parson is willfully ignoring the syphilis outbreak and the rising maternal mortality rate happening on his watch. Shame on him for suggesting the government should have a say in when and whether someone becomes a parent.
