Jaime Michelle Hawk for Washington Supreme Court
Hawk currently serves as a King County Superior Court Judge, after being appointed by former Governor Jay Inslee in 2022. Hawk’s experience as a civil rights attorney — fighting for criminal justice reform, immigrant rights, and voting rights — is exactly what Washington needs to protect our rights from a federal government intent on stripping them away.
Hawk brings extensive experience protecting Washingtonians’ constitutional rights across the legal spectrum, having served as a state and federal public defender, civil rights attorney with the ACLU of Washington, attorney fellow on Senator Edward Kennedy’s Senate Judiciary Committee staff, and now as a King County Superior Court Judge.
Hawk understands the critical need to dismantle structural inequities in our judicial system. She currently serves on the state Supreme Court’s Minority & Justice Commission, where she works on issues related to bias, fairness, and public trust in the court system.
Hawk’s exemplary work has earned her much deserved recognition, including the Washington Defender Association President’s Award, the American Bar Association’s “Star of the Year” award, and the 21st annual Myra Bradwell Award for Gonzaga Alumnae Leadership.
Appointed to the Washington State Supreme Court in January 2026, Melody has experience protecting Washingtonians' civil rights and freedoms against the Trump administration's attacks.
