Planned Parenthood Alliance Advocates announced its slate of endorsements for the Kentucky 2022 General Election today. This round of endorsements includes the largest group of candidates Planned Parenthood Alliance Advocates has ever endorsed in Kentucky – a sign that candidates see abortion as a winning issue that will bring voters to the polls in November. The organization has endorsed 25 candidates from across the state who have demonstrated a commitment to supporting reproductive health care, including access to abortion, birth control, and sex education.

“With abortion banned across the commonwealth, there has never been a more important time to support candidates willing to fight for reproductive freedom in Kentucky,” said Tamarra Wieder, Kentucky State Director for Planned Parenthood Alliance Advocates. “We know these candidates will spend every day fighting for access to high-quality, equitable health care for all Kentuckians. We are thrilled to endorse a fierce group of reproductive rights advocates who promise to reflect the majority of Kentuckians who want access to safe and legal abortion. We look forward to supporting our allies in protecting this most basic human right—the freedom to control your own body.”

Many of today’s endorsed candidates have already served as allies in the relentless fight to restore abortion access in an aggressive anti-abortion state legislature. For the last five years, anti-abortion extrememists have continued to create laws for our bodies based not on science, but on a need for control. Kentucky residents deserve lawmakers who fight to protect and strengthen their health care system, not undermine it with junk science, medical misinformation and laws that continue to discriminate against our most vulnerable communities, many who are already disenfranchised from care due to years of racist public policy.

Through Planned Parenthood Alliance Advocates’s endorsement process, the organization finds, educates, endorses, and supports candidates who will stand with Planned Parenthood, patients, and communities across Kentucky to work in pursuit of sexual and reproductive health, rights, and justice for all people.
