HONOLULU – Planned Parenthood Votes Northwest and Hawaii (PPVNH) today announced the endorsement of David Ige for Governor of Hawaii and Josh Green for Lieutenant Governor.

Statement from Laurie Field, Hawaii State Director at PPVNH:

“Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation is a moment of reckoning for our country. Women have been standing up and fighting back against President Trump and Republican leaderships’ attacks on our health and rights, but we continue to be ignored.

“The midterms are our chance to send a clear message to those in power that if you vote against our rights, we will vote you out. We need champions and that’s why PPVNH is proud to support David Ige for Governor of Hawaii and Josh Green for Lieutenant Governor. As Hawaii leads the charge against attacks on health care access and reproductive rights, we know Governor Ige and Green will stand strong in their leadership on important issues for women and families. We know this because they have done so in the past, and they know how important it is when women have autonomy over their bodies and their lives.

“Hawaii is a progressive leader for the nation, but with a federal administration hostile to reproductive health care, and Congress members committed to eliminating access, we need gubernatorial leaders who will stand strong, fight forward, and show unwavering support for reproductive health and rights.

“Ige and Green have publicly supported increased access to reproductive health care, comprehensive sex education, LGBTQ and immigrant rights. We urge supporters of Planned Parenthood across the state to join us in working to elect Ige and Green as Governor and Lieutenant Governor in 2018.”
