SEATTLE – Tonight, Tim Kaine and Mike Pence took the stage for the only general election vice presidential debate. Mike Pence maintained his extreme position in restricting access to safe and legal abortion. Meanwhile, Tim Kaine made it clear that electing the Clinton-Kaine ticket would mean electing champions for women and their families to the White House.

“Tim Kaine is right – we need to trust women,” said Treasure Mackley, Political and Organizing Director at Planned Parenthood Votes Northwest and Hawaii. “Donald Trump and Mike Pence don’t trust women and don’t care about women’s health and lives. With so much at stake in 2016, we need to elect Hillary Clinton and Tim Kaine. No other presidential ticket in our nation’s history has demonstrated such a strong commitment to women or such a clear record on behalf of women’s health and rights.”

Planned Parenthood health centers are the nation’s most trusted reproductive health care providers. In a single year, 2.5 million women, men and young people rely on Planned Parenthood health centers for birth control, lifesaving cancer screenings, STI testing and treatment, and well-woman exams. Planned Parenthood has been a trusted health care provider for nearly 100 years.
