Planned Parenthood Action Fund Announces Latest Endorsements of Six House Candidates
For Immediate Release: April 28, 2022
WASHINGTON — Today, the Planned Parenthood Action Fund (Action Fund) announced endorsements in critical races for the U.S. House of Representatives, including Asif Mahmood (CA-40), Brittany Pettersen (CO-07), Hillary Scholten (MI-03), Max Rose (NY-11), Greg Landsman (OH-01), and Emilia Sykes (OH-13).
From physicians and state senators to former members of Congress and public school teachers, these candidates have been champions of sexual and reproductive freedom, some in places that are hostile to abortion rights. There is no state in the country where making abortion illegal is popular, and with so much on the line, the seats of Congress must be filled with those who will represent the interest of the people this November.
Statement from Alexis McGill Johnson, president, Planned Parenthood Action Fund:
“The Supreme Court could soon rule to upend abortion rights and access nationwide. To meet this moment, we must elect champions to Congress — and every other level of government — who will step up to fortify access to sexual and reproductive health care, and protect the freedom to make our own decisions about our bodies and futures. Planned Parenthood Action Fund proudly endorses these six candidates who, if elected, will bring the full strength of their support for reproductive rights to Congress. Representing communities across the country, each one of these candidates is committed to the work needed to protect abortion rights and everyone’s ability to access to essential health care.”
These candidates join a strong roster of other Action Fund-endorsed sexual health and reproductive champions, including Jessica Cisneros (TX-28) — who is facing a runoff against the last anti-abortion Democrat in the House on May 24, nine House candidates announced in March, dozens of House and Senate incumbents, and other critical Senate candidates in October.
