ANTI-ABORTION GROUPS FILE MERITLESS LAWSUIT IN LONG-SHOT EFFORT TO REVOKE MICHIGAN’S RIGHT TO REPRODUCTIVE FREEDOM: Last week, anti-abortion groups filed a federal lawsuit trying to thwart Michigan’s Reproductive Freedom amendment, the voter-approved constitutional amendment that enshrined a right to abortion and other reproductive rights in Michigan’s state constitution. PLANNED PARENTHOOD OF THE ST. LOUIS REGION WINS ADAGE HEALTH CARE MARKETING IMPACT AWARD: Following the overturning of Roe v. Wade, Planned Parenthood of the St. Louis Region and Southwest Missouri (PPSLRSWMO) mobilized quickly to respond to the growing need for access to essential health care for patients — as abortion bans forced many patients to travel north, often they arrived in Southern Illinois. In response, PPSLR established a logistics center located in Fairview Heights, Illinois, which offers financial, lodging, and transportation assistance to individuals seeking abortion care. In addition to providing this essential support, PPSLR organized an awareness campaign to ensure the center’s services were advertised to anyone who might need them. The dissemination of information was widespread, reaching over 6,400 people living in states with stringent restrictions. PPSLR was acknowledged by AdAge for the Tiny but Mighty Providers/insurers category of the 2023 Healthcare Marketing Impact Awards.
