ICYMI FROM PLANNED PARENTHOOD VOTES: AZ SENATE CANDIDATE KARI LAKE BACKTRACKS ON HER ANTI-ABORTION STANCE: In an exclusive interview with NBC News, Arizona Senate candidate Kari Lake fails once again to distance herself from her anti-abortion rhetoric that kept her from winning the gubernatorial election in 2022. Lake claims she now opposes a national abortion ban — but she can’t run from her anti-abortion rhetoric. Arizonans won’t forget how she praised the U.S. Supreme Court for overturning Roe and applauded Arizona's pre-Roe abortion ban that would criminalize health care providers, calling it a “really great law”. Kari Lake continues to prove that she will do and say anything to get elected. She may change her tune like many anti-abortion candidates before her, but voters will not fall for this act of political desperation.

COALITION LAUNCHES PETITION TO REPEAL SOUTH CAROLINA’S BAN: On Tuesday, a coalition of abortion advocacy organizations launched a petition campaign to repeal South Carolina’s abortion ban. Repeal the Ban SC, which includes Planned Parenthood Votes! South Atlantic, is working to gather signatures from all 46 counties before the end of the 2024 legislative session. Because South Carolina does not allow for citizen-led ballot initiatives, the coalition’s goal is to demonstrate the widespread support for abortion access across the state. Vicky Ringer, director of public policy at Planned Parenthood Votes! South Atlantic explained the urgency of repeal saying: “This abortion ban has been in effect less than six months and we are already witnessing the devastating consequences, just like we warned. And worse, in a state that already ranks poorly on all measures of public health, the people being hurt the most are those who already face often-insurmountable barriers to health care – people with low incomes, people of color, LGBTQ people, and those who live in rural areas. South Carolina’s legislators seem to think they don’t have to be accountable to the people of South Carolina, so we will bring the people’s voices to them. South Carolinians deserve better leadership – and they deserve access to life-saving, essential health care.”
