SHERROD BROWN IS FOCUSED ON ABORTION RIGHTS IN 2024 REELECTION BID: Earlier this month, Ohio voters voted to enshrine abortion rights into the state constitution. CBS News reports that Senator Sherrod Brown (OH-D) is making abortion rights a focus of his 2024 reelection campaign. CBS quotes Planned Parenthood Action Fund President and CEO highlighting the importance of abortion rights to voters:

ARIZONA GOVERNOR ENDORSES 2024 ABORTION ACCESS BALLOT INITIATIVE: The Arizona Mirror reports that yesterday, Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs added her name to a petition to put the Arizona Abortion Access Act on the November 2024 ballot. The Act, if approved by voters, would enshrine abortion rights into the state constitution. The report quotes Hobbs as follows:
“Reproductive freedom is not a partisan issue…It’s about our individual rights, it’s about our health care, it’s about women’s ability to fully participate in our society and our economy.”
The report also notes that Hobbs pointed to the urgency of the ballot initiative, given that the Arizona Supreme Court is set to hear arguments next month on whether to reinstate an 1864 law that bans nearly all abortions except for those to save the patient’s life. Currently, abortion in Arizona is banned after 15 weeks with limited exceptions.
