In today’s Quickie: PP Votes responds to Trump’s abortion lie and PPGP files motion to dismiss baseless lawsuit.
PP VOTES RESPONDS TO TRUMP’S ABORTION LIE: In response to Donald Trump’s latest falsehood on abortion, Planned Parenthood Votes Executive Director Jenny Lawson released the following statement:
“We all know that Trump cannot be trusted and will say whatever it takes to get back into the White House — that includes lying about his support for a national abortion ban. Trump is proud of his role in overturning Roe, which led to abortion bans in 21 states and counting. It's not a secret that his allies already have an entire playbook to take down not only abortion, but also birth control and IVF, using every lever they can — without approval from Congress. If given the chance, Trump will sign every anti-abortion law they put in front of him.
"Abortion rights are supported by an overwhelming majority of the public — and in fact, 8 in 10 Americans still believe that decisions about abortion should be between a patient and their doctor. In the 2022 and 2023 elections, voters clearly rejected anti-abortion policies as well as candidates who lied about their abortion stances. They’ll do the same with Donald Trump and his cronies in 2024.”

PPGP FILES MOTION TO DISMISS BASELESS LAWSUIT: Last week, Planned Parenthood Great Plains (PPGP) filed a motion to dismiss the Missouri Attorney General's lawsuit seeking a declaratory judgment against PPGP in Boone County. Emily Wales, president and CEO of Planned Parenthood Great Plains, released the following statement:
“This lawsuit is built solely on the story of a fake patient from debunked pseudo-journalists, and Andrew Bailey knows it. In the 15 months since he was appointed attorney general, Missourians have learned the most dangerous place is between bureaucrat Bailey and a right-wing TV camera. The patients we serve -- real patients in real health centers -- are being targeted, shamed, and endangered by political games. Their health and safety are at risk, and we’re going to call this what it is: an abuse of office. The state’s top legal officer has an obligation to choose words wisely and calling for the ‘eradication’ of fellow Missourians makes him unfit to serve.”
